The program includes:
Telephone interview before the student will be accepted for the program
Placement in a French company for 2 to 3 months
Our partner agency will apply to the ministry of work to obtain the work permit, called APT (Autorisation Provisoire de Travail)
Our partner agency will send all necessary papers in order to get the visa
Orientation meeting in our Paris office upon arrival
Liability and repatriation insurance
Opening of a bank account at our Bank partner office
Local support throughout the stay
Your job:
Jobs are generally available in the hotel and catering industries, however, there are also some opportunities in holiday resorts, cleaning positions and in sales. French language skills are obviously very important for the applicant to possess, and for jobs with direct contact with clients, a very high level of French is required. Most important to prospective employers is motivation, flexibility, a professional attitude, and excellent interpersonal communication skills, however, previous work experience in these industries is also highly valued.
Work Schedule:
Job placements are for a maximum of 90 days due to visa requirements. According to different positions, you will work between 30 and 39 hours per week. Occasionally extra work may arise, and you will be paid for these extra hours. Salaries are based on the French minimum wage requirements.
Accommodation:
Upon arrival: Wherever you are going to work, you will be greeted in Paris. You will attend an orientation meeting and sign documents if required. If you are going to work in a country town, you will spend the first night in Paris in a youth hostel and another one before you return home. You will reach your work place the day after your arrival.
During your stay you have 2 choices:
1/ You can look by yourself for housing. In this case, we suggest you begin to look for housing as soon as you have confirmation of your participation in the program.
2/ You apply for the AFX housing service: You must send the application form for the housing service at the same time as your application.
Eligibility:
Be over 18 years old, up to 30 years
Be a full time higher education student and be traveling during university holidays
Have work experience in catering, the hotel industry or sales
Have at least an «intermediate» level in French - French tests available on request
Procedures:
We must receive application forms a minimum of 3 months before the starting date.
