Teachers Assistant Program

As a teachers assistant you will work in a French School alongside an English Language Teacher. You will also be hosted by a French family close to the school. This is a great program for people who want to experience life in France, help young students improve their English, improve your French, and have the focus and support provided by AFX, the school and your host family. Teaching experience is not required, however you will be expected to be a native English speaker, and behave appropriately as a guest in someone’s home. Some knowledge of French is recommended but not required.

Accommodation and meals: You will stay in a host family’s home in a private room. All of your meals are provided by the host family.

Requirement: Have completed a 3 year degree at unviversity.

Program length: From September to July.

Location: All over France.

What is expected from you? Each Assistant is expected to help with conversation classes and with ancillary duties for the teacher, from preparing teaching material, typing and/or photocopying worksheets/tests/exams, correcting essays according to guidelines provided by the department and running small errands related to departmental administration. The assistant is expected to be available during school hours, with a total of 20 working hours per week. Your timetable is arranged in conjunction with the language teacher and the school, and there is usually time for further French study

Fees: $999

Includes: Placement in a school, support from AFX, accommodation and meals provided by a host family.

Does not include: Airfares, insurance, personal expenses, French lessons and onward travel.
